Lutheran Homes Group

I was engaged by Fastbreak Films to film a short documentary piece for Lutheran Homes Group in Glynde. The project centered around an intimate interview with a senior resident, reflecting on his life and experiences within the home.

This project was rooted in storytelling — creating space for authentic reflection and personal memory. My approach as cinematographer was to use gentle, unobtrusive framing to keep the focus on the resident’s words and expressions, employ soft, natural lighting to reflect warmth, dignity, and the comfort of home and capture a balance of close, emotive details and wider contextual shots to create both intimacy and environment.

The film aimed to preserve the resident’s story with honesty and care. More than a simple interview, it was about capturing the value of lived experience, reminding viewers that every person has stories worth telling… often hidden, but powerful when shared.

The finished piece became both a touching personal portrait and a testament to the community at Lutheran Homes. It reinforced the organisation’s mission to provide not just care, but a sense of belonging, history, and humanity.
